MySQL Database Administrator, Denver Colorado
Responsible for every facet of the design, deployment, and support of all IT production MySQL database environments. Support MySQL datbases and their associated instances and applications, residing on a variety of open systems and hardware (Linux, Solaris, UNIX, and Windows). These databases must be installed, created, modified, designed and redesigned, sized, backed up, and tuned. Application programming support in the form of advice and troubleshooting is provided to applications personnel and end-users, and DBAs work closely and communicate with a wide range of individuals including clients, end users, programmers and analysts, other DBAs, and System and Network Administrators.
SCOPE: The scope of this task is to provide database administration support to achieve an extremely high degree of availability for all MySQL databases supported, as required by specific client service level agreements and to ensure 24x7 availability, troubleshooting, and tuning to ensure aaceptable response times.
The candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks;
Responsible for installing, configuring and supporting MySQL database infrastructure.
Develop automation tools surrounding monitoring, performance and capacity planning.
Ensure MySQL servers run at optimal health; performance troubleshooting as necessary (resource profiling, index management, disk I/O, CPU, identify bottlenecks, etc...).
Troubleshoot complex issues as they arise and resolve in a timely manner.
Consult on various projects within the organization.
Adherence to established service level agreements.
Work with System and Network Administrators in support of administered databases.
Diagnose and correct problems that occur within databases and application interfaces.
Develop, with client input, and implement backup/recovery and disaster recovery strategies.
Work with database security.
Coordinate all work with the application programmers, systems programmers, and database administrators assigned to coordinate the applications, databases, and hardware platforms.
Provide documentation and to other staff on all activities.
2+ years experience with MySQL and Linux or Solaris.
Experience with MySQL replication setup and configuration.
Experience with InnoDB, MyISAM and other storage engines.
Ability to troubleshoot and performance tune both Linux or Solaris and MySQL.
PHP/Perl and Bash scripting experience required.
Ability to manage priorities in a fast paced changing environment.
Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
LAMP application development experience a plus.
MySQL DBA and Developer certification a strong plus.
