Organizations need to describe, organize, integrate, share and govern data in an application-independent manner in support of information needs and business goals. It is optimal that technology infrastructure and data management be application and technology agnostic.
Organizations should review and assess their current information management technologies and processes and
determine the range of technology capabilities and analytical processes necessary to deliver the right information infrastructure for the future (i.e., massive structured and unstructured data sets and diverse data sources). Then develop a plan and road map for increasing the effectiveness of the information infrastructure.
